In partnership with the Dairy Innovation Hub, Hyper Innovation is offering one paid internship position working with student participants in the Dairy Innovation Challenge, more information can be found below.

Data Science Student Associate

Position Summary:

The Digital Health Lab, powered by Hyper Innovation, is looking for a self-motivated university undergraduate or graduate student with experience handling technical communications, and working on small teams with an emphasis on data science and analysis. 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be eager to tackle the challenges of analyzing de-identified healthcare data and conducting queries
  • Bring with them knowledge on how to organize and analyze healthcare data
  • Ability to generate insights from the analyzed data
  • Have the high energy spirit and work ethic necessary to assist in Digital Health Lab’s work with clients and industry partners
  • Student will have the opportunity to be client-facing in a “real world” commercial setting
  • Exposure to/experience with healthcare data is preferred

Top candidates will be skilled at navigating healthcare databases and conducting queries and analysis of accessed data, though prior experience is not necessary and candidates with no prior experience will be considered. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. 

Gain experience in a startup setting, working in a fast-paced environment with local industry experts on projects involving the application of data insights from experiments, as well as new use cases for emerging healthcare technologies. As the Data Science Student Associate, you will be responsible for managing database queries, facilitating analyses of selected data, and generating reports based on your insights. 

Responsibilities & Duties

Author written and oral communications on technical topics
Lead and facilitate data analysis reviews
Handle queries for the healthcare database 
Manage reports and findings
Work closely with the lead of the Digital Health Lab Research Team

Qualifications & Skills

Strong written and oral communication skills on technical topics

Estimated Hours and Rate:

Our internships are semester-long (September-November 2020) and require approximately 10 hours/week. We are flexible in terms of scheduling. We offer an hourly rate of $12-20/hour commensurate with experience.

Digital Tech Programmer/Engineer Student Associate

Position Summary

The Digital Health Lab, powered by Hyper Innovation, is looking for a self-motivated university undergraduate or graduate student with experience handling technical communications, and working on small teams with an emphasis on healthcare technologies, device and Cloud-based platforms. 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be eager to tackle the challenges of understanding the functionalities of emerging healthcare innovations
  • Bring with them knowledge on how to organize and analyze reports, data, and research
  • Ability to program databases and setup/configure Cloud infrastructure for digital health platforms
  • Have the high energy spirit and work ethic necessary to assist in Digital Health Lab’s work with clients and industry partners

Top candidates will be skilled at navigating technologies and come with knowledge on computer programming and coding, healthcare focus preferred. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. 

Gain experience in a startup setting, working in a fast-paced environment with local industry experts on projects involving the application of data insights from experiments, as well as new use cases for emerging healthcare technologies. As the Digital Tech Programmer Student Associate, you will be responsible for managing incoming technologies, conducting research on applications of technologies, programming server software and databases and generating reports based on your insights.

Lead and facilitate technical infrastructure discussion and/or requirements 
Operate healthcare technologies and devices 
Manage reports and findings
Work closely with the lead of the Digital Health Lab Research Team

Demonstrated leadership qualities or interest in leadership role

Experience working in on devices or with small machines preferred
High emotional intelligence is preferred

Participate in innovative work being done in the dairy industry with the Dairy Innovation Hub.

Company Background

The Dairy Innovation Hub harnesses research and development at UW–Madison, UW–Platteville and UW–River Falls campuses to keep Wisconsin’s dairy community at the global forefront in producing nutritious dairy products in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable manner.This fall, the Dairy Innovation Hub is hosting its first ever Student Challenge to address dairy industry problems to be solved. Hyper Innovation is assisting the Dairy Innovation Hub by providing resources and frameworks for the engagement. Students from UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, and UW-River Falls are all encouraged to participate in this virtual student challenge addressing the largest problems being faced by the Wisconsin dairy industry today.

Dairy Challenge Intern

Position Summary:

Hyper Innovation is looking for a self-motivated undergraduate or graduate student with experience handling technical communications, and working on small teams. 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be eager to tackle the challenges of coordinating student work on campus
  • Balance responsibilities well and be able to bounce between projects effectively
  • Have excellent communication skills and proven success in digital communications
  • Have the high energy spirit and work ethic necessary to assist in Hyper Innovation’s work with campus initiatives

Top candidates will be skilled at balancing a dynamic workload and creating a community feel while working remotely with Hyper Innovation and its campus partner, the Dairy Innovation Hub. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. The Hyper Innovation Dairy Challenge Intern will be the spokesperson for Hyper Innovation’s student engagement with the Dairy Innovation Hub and the associated student work.

Gain experience in a startup setting, working in a fast-paced environment with local industry experts on projects involving the application of emerging technologies and new business practices to problems to be solved in the dairy industry.

As the Hyper Innovation Dairy Challenge Intern you will be responsible for creating open dialogue between Hyper Innovation and its affiliated partners. You will be tasked with facilitating meetings, coordinating schedules, delegating use of resources, and building the organization culture. Additionally, you may be asked to update the website, write blog posts, and author documents detailing the work done on campus through Hyper Innovation in partnership with the Dairy Innovation Hub.

Experience in the dairy industry or other related agricultural fields is not required to apply.

  • Draft blog posts for the website
